Advisory Council

The CFSP Advisory Council is a group of families and stakeholders working to improve family engagement in Connecticut’s schools. Its goal is a create a forum for sharing ideas, expertise, and resources to enhance family engagement practices and policies. The council includes members representing families, schools, and the broader community.

Council Focus

The CFSP Advisory Council aims to elevate family engagement practices and policies in Connecticut by fostering communication and collaboration between families, schools, and community partners.

Family-School Partnerships

Building stronger relationships between families and schools for student success.

Parent Leadership

Developing opportunities for parents to take on leadership roles in their children’s education. 

Resource Linking

Connecting families with relevant resources and support systems for student success. 

Council Representatives

Families

This includes biological parents, foster parents, adoptive parents, grandparents, and other relatives involved in a chid’s life.

Schools

This includes educators, school staff, and professionals in early childhood, after-school programs, and community organizations

Community

This includes representatives from educational institutions, healthcare, faith-based organizations, and volunteers.

What We Do

  • Attend four (4) CFSP Advisory Meetings
  • Actively participate in CFSP Council discussion and plans.
  • Advise CFSP of challenges from families and the communities they represent
  • Become a messenger for family engagement and support awareness of family engagement, this includes sharing CFSP resources and resources from our partners
  • Share expertise and experience.
  • Participate in evaluation activities
